According to a survey carried out by the Veteran Horse Society over one third of horses in the UK are veterans, that is they are over 15 years old.

Improved veterinary knowledge and nutritional advances mean that many horses are living longer than ever before. The good news is that with a little extra care and attention, most older equines can continue to enjoy an excellent quality of life.

However, there is no doubt that, just like you and I, as time passes their immune and digestive systems become less efficient. Teeth become worn and loose due to the wear and tear of chewing and bones become less strong. Hoof quality can deteriorate and joints may be affected by cartilage necrosis and inflammation.

With all of this in mind, we've developed Veteran Care using the highest quality natural ingredients to help your faithful companion enjoy his/her senior years.

People love Veteran Care Mix

Joule has a new lease of life with Veteran Care Mix, her coat is like a mirror it shines so much with a deep lusture. Her eyes are bright and we are regularly hacking out for 3 to 5 miles a time.

What Makes Veteran Care Mix so Great?

  • Can be fed wet (to help if chewing is difficult) or dry
  • Inclusion of whole milk providing conjugated linoleic acid for bone accretion and strength and it's heart healthy too
  • Whole milk also provides protein and energy (lactose) that are easily digested
  • Contains a carefully formulated chelated mineral package - this means the minerals are available in their naturally occurring form, and so are more easily absorbed by the older horse
  • Contains enhanced vitamin and anti-oxidant levels to help your horse's natural defences
  • Includes Speedi-Beet providing soluble fibre, perfect for slow release energy and to keep your horse's digestive system working properly
  • Added yucca helps mop up toxins in the gut - preventing them entering the blood system, improving joint and tissue function
  • The added mint, rosemary and garlic in Veteran Care make it taste good and provide essential oils and anti-oxidants (to mop up free radicals)

What's in Veteran Care Mix

The protein in Veteran Care provides essential amino acids such as lysine and methionine that are particularly beneficial for the older horse. The cereal component has been micronized to maximise digestibility and some of the starch has been replaced with disaccharides to make it more readily available to the horse.
