Lesley Cusack was devastated after vets told her that they did not expect her beloved horse, Oliver to live.
Five-year-old Oliver was extremely poorly and underweight, due to a loss of appetite. The local veterinary practice, Simon Constables in Tyldesly, Manchester had put him on steroids to kick start his appetite but his chances of survival were low.
Said Lesley: "Just before we tried the steroids we had planned to have him put to sleep as we did not want to destroy his quality of life and just keep him alive for our sake. They were dark days!
"However after the steroids had started to increase his appetite a little we introduced Speedi-Beet, after gaining expert advice from the Speedi-Beet team.
"Oliver couldn't get enough of it. Now he is back up to weight, his bloodlevels are back to a safe level and he is glowing, shining and bouncing with good health.
"He is now back to small amounts of work and loving it."
Said Dr. Tom Shurlock of Speedi-Beet: "Horses are designed to utilise fibre. By introducing a highly palatable fibre source which also has a relatively high energy value it means optimum feeding can be achieved, giving good gut fill avoiding problems associated with overfeeding high levels of sugar."
Added Lesley: "Thank you to Speedi-Beet for all their valuable advice. Olly is a living miracle as the vet says with his illness he should have been dead.......we are so glad he's not!"
