Billy Bank has been having some lessons with he who must be obeyed!

Top of the Morning to You,

Here's hoping you had a Merry Christmas and a great time. December was the month of the yellow rosette in our household. A third place at Bishop Burton BS and a qualification into a second round as we jumped a double clear. Points and prize money keeps everyone sweet.

The Christmas holidays bring over the friends of The Old Girl and unbelievably she actually took me out for several hacks. Mostly this involves trundling round the lanes while they all have a good gas and catch up on what's been going on in their lives but when Fast & Furious turned up I knew they'd up the ante!

It was a great ride, blowing the cobwebs away not to mention all the compliments I received on how well I look. "Fibre-beet ", I told them, "You just can't beat it."

With another pony club dressage competition at the end of the month the young master and I have been practicing lengthening and shortening my stride whilst out hacking interspersed with some lessons from "He who must be obeyed." And I can tell you it's been blooming hard work but for the first time ever the dressage sheet actually read "Clear difference shown" and the 15 metre circles have been the right size. Shame I became over excited in the canter left and rather blew it resulting in another third place and a yellow rosette. The Young Master made it a hat trick of yellow ribbons when finishing third in a jumping class on a new ride, Blue. They posted a super double clear leaving all the connections very happy.

With the dark evenings my poet's hat has been back on with some observations from last season put into rhyme. It's rather an epic tale but I am sure you can relate to some bits and hopefully if everyone is well prepared for 2019 you'll bypass some of the drama and head straight to the winner’s podium.

Have a great New Year's Party and here's to health and success in 2019 to be sure.

Keep smiling

Billy Bank
