December was a month of horses heading back into work and all getting clipped out ready to start fitness work. We do a lot of hacking when we bring them back into work, it is great for fitness and leg conditioning trotting along the roads.
All of the horses look amazing after their holidays due to their amazing feed which includes Fibre-Beet to provid them with the best diet.
Over December we had to prepare our very sad goodbye’s to Shadow Inspector who has a fabulous new home in California, USA! Shadow Inspector has been an amazing partner to James, we’ve had him since a little three-year-old. We wish him and his new owners all the luck in the world, we know they are going to enjoy their new partnership greatly.
Chief (Shadow Inspector) has worked up to Intermediate level with Team Sommerville, he has always been so honest and such a talented horse, producing many placings and double clears.
Another horse we have to say a sad farewell to is, VSS Mission Impossible (Tom). Tom won’t be going too far though, and it is lovely that we will always get to see him. Tom has also been a wonderful horse, he joined us at the beginning of 2017 and has had numerous wins and placings at novice and CCI* level. Proving to be a real asset to our team over the 2017 season.
We have enjoyed some wonderful Christmas celebrations in December. Lovely lunches and dinner parties. However, come Christmas day James decided to surprise and make Christmas day a wonderful day for Lucinda.
James proposed in true rider tradition… out on a hack on two wonderful horses. James was riding Captain Levade and Lucinda on Shadow Inspector, it was a lovely dry day on Christmas so even better! Lucinda obviously said yes to James’ question!
We then enjoyed lots of engagement celebrations and also went to the races at Wetherby, which was cold but very enjoyable.
James has also been enjoying some hunting over the winter period. His brother, William, has also been having some good days out. James enjoys taking the horses out for the good exercise and experience.
In January, James had a wonderful trip to BETA trade fair, where he caught up with lots of our amazing sponsors. Especially Fibre-Beet at the British Horse Feeds stand. We have also been hearing all about their amazing new super products TurmerAid! We are so excited about this new product and have already been using it on a lot of our horses.
Last but not least we are all looking forward to some new prospects and recruits coming to Team Sommerville soon… watch this space!
We hope you all have had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Until next time… Keep feeding Fibre-Beet!
