James Sommerville

Since starting his eventing career in 2002, James is now a full time international event rider with a string of horses coming through into the top level of the sport. Over the years he has gained a reputation for getting the best out of difficult/tricky to ride horses, making him an attractive choice of rider for prospective owners, and already has a large number of horses based with him.

James’ top horse, Talent, is competing at Advanced level and is no stranger to the testing track at Bramham International Horse Trials. Now moving up towards 4* level, this pair are an exciting duo to watch. Also on the yard, James has a string of advanced, intermediate and novice horses which are showing a lot of promise for the future.

Feed & Routine:
James came across Fibre-Beet when looking for a feed to help keep condition on his top horse Talent as he would tend lose condition throughout the eventing season. Now all the horses are fed on Fibre-Beet for a high fibre conditioning diet which compliments their hard feed.

He is ridden six days a week; one of those days is usually a competition day. He is stabled at night but spends a few hours out grazing during the day.
