Going further into the season Team Sommerville has had some highlights and frustrations with the continuous bad weather!
After Burnham Market International our next stop in the lorry was Norton Disney. James always enjoys this event for the horses at a lower level, the ground is always good and it is such a well-run event. That weekend we had the younger horses on board doing BE100 and BE90, but also Jack doing his last novice run before stepping up!
Shadow Inspector (Chief) was very good in his first BE100, only having a green moment XC picking up 20 penalties. We were still very pleased. Master Ramiro (Rocky) had a brilliant run in his first ever event in the BE90 section and Altaskin Jack had a very good run for his final novice finishing third on a good dressage score and a double clear.
Belton International was our next event however due to the snow… YES SNOW!!! Our sections were unfortunately cancelled. So the next stop was Kelsall Hill with Master Ramiro running in the BE90. He had a fab round with a 27.5 dressage score and a double clear.
After Kelsall, James went onto Twemlows AI Stallion Parade to ride the one and only Sir Shutterfly (Fly) for the fantastic Fairlight Stud. James adores riding Fly with his impressive power and talent. It is such a thrill and joy to experience riding Fly and a huge honour to showcase this beautiful horse to potential breeders looking to use him.
The last event of April was Dalston Green in Carlisle. The ground was perfect and the weather stayed beautiful all day on the Saturday. Shadow Inspector (Chief) learnt from his mistake at his previous event and stormed around a double clear with a 28.5 dressage to finish third in a BE100 section.
Our beautiful Erox (Pea Pad) came back out for his first run of the season, being a pro he flew round a double clear with a nice test of 31 penalties. However, the star of the show was Master Ramiro! He upgraded to BE100 and cruised around winning his section with 27.8 penalties and a double clear!
Next stop in May will be Richmond where we have eight horses running!! Followed by Chatsworth and Aston le Walls. All of our horses continue to progress up the levels comfortably and run with ease. We all truly believe this is down to their fantastic diets with Gain Horse Feeds and Fibre-Beet!! It gives a good foundation for all of our horse’s individual needs.
