Billy Bank is a 16hh, 13-year-old Irish gelding ridden by Nick Ireland, who joined the British Horse Feeds team in 2017. Billy competes in British Eventing with 23-year-old Nick, who is an accredited Pony Club coach and longstanding member of the York and Ainsty Pony Club. Billy and Nick have been a partnership for seven years, progressing from unaffiliated showjumping to riding in their first BE 1* event.
Billy was also selected with rider Lucy Jones for the BE U18’s Youth Squad representing Northern at Bishop Burton.
Billy is looked after by Nick’s mum, otherwise known as the “Old Girl”, who feeds Fibre-Beet and Speedi-Beet to Billy which keeps him in peak condition, providing the essential fibre and fluid needed for the performance and stamina whilst competing, but not causing fizziness in the dressage arena! Betsy, the vintage lorry, is always fully stocked with Fibre-Beet when the team are out competing as it’s such a great way of keeping the horses hydrated, both before and after their cross-country rounds.
