July was a month of getting all the other horses out and about!! We had plenty of visits from all of our top team including the physio, farrier and dentist. Making sure all of the horses are fully MOT’d in the middle of the season!

First event of the month was Buckminster. We had another winner, VSS Mission Impossible did another fantastic dressage of 29.8 with some super jumping to follow to take his first win at novice level. Bally Louis had a good run in the novice, having a good educational run. Master Ramiro was a bit of a tinker, he is always learning so onto the next!

In July we had a work experience girl come with her horse, who better to come and join our team for a short while than Kate Dennis. Her and Lilly had a brilliant stay and she was such great help to our team. Kate had training with James whilst they stayed. It was a brilliant week, involving lots of outings to the gallops, cross country training etc.

Another exciting edition to our team, is Trilanco! A new sponsor to Team Sommerville. Trilanco is a large distribution company so for any horsey or other agricultural needs… you must look them up! We have also under the Trilanco team joined up with Clipperman. The amazing clippers and trimmers arrived on our yard… and Lucie has been bouncing up and down clipping and trimming away!

With a weekend off James also took the valuable time to put in some training with the top man for the job Christopher Bartle and another oracle..Chris Mcgran!! Their input to our horses and their training is always invaluable and contributes to our success every time!

Next up was Aston Le Walls. We had Shadow Inspector out again…and true to form he sailed around the novice coming 1st!! Bally Louis not far behind sailing around his novice section to come 2nd!

The following week had a new agenda! Lucie’s birthday!! We treated her to a lovely day away from the yard! Much to her annoyance!! And as soon as she arrived back she had to go and see all of the horses!! Lucie was spoiled by all of the family, owners and sponsors!!
Burgham was going to be a very long weekend next. Three days back and forth! On the Friday we had Shadow Inspector and Bally Louis both doing their first CIC* dressage tests. Shadow Inspector did a lovely test, showing great potential posting a 46.5. Bally Louis followed suit posting another good score of 47.3. Saturday was jumping day for the pair, Shadow Inspector had a very unfortunate and uncharacteristic pole in the show jumping, so to gain experience James took him steady around the xc. He made it feel all very easy. We are very excited for this super horses’ future. Bally Louis continues his fantastic season with a foot perfect double clear, inside the time to come a brilliant 11th out of a huge international field.

Altaskin Jack had a foot perfect run in the OI with a brilliant double clear, and the only one to go on the optimum time cross country to finish up 3rd!!

On the Sunday the good runs kept coming with two wins, Master Ramiro put his big boy pants on with another stunning dressage and good jumping to come 1st!! New boy Bob stepped up also to have a good dressage with a double clear to finish up in top position also!
Onto August with a busy month looking onto Sommerford international with top boy Talent making an appearance!!
Until next time keep feeding FIBRE-BEET!!
