Well this weather has been ‘snow joke’! We had lots of snow followed by some really warm days and then copious amounts of rain. The show horses don’t know whether they are coming or going.
It’s so difficult with the youngsters, as one minute you are going great guns and making huge progress only to then be grounded by the weather. Everyone is in the same boat though and we are lucky to have a string of very level headed horses who have actually coped very well, although they did enjoy throwing some shapes in the snow!
Captain Fantastic (Benji) is gearing up to do his first show ride rounds soon and we have just started playing with simple show pelhams. He’s looking and feeling fantastic at the moment.
We’ve only been to one show this month and that was the Ponies UK Spring Spectacular, where Ginger won the Royal International Lightweight cob class and then went reserve champion and Max was second in the Maxi Cob.
We have a few more Royal International qualifying shows where we will mix taking open horses and some youngsters for the novice classes before gearing up for Royal Windsor next month.
