September has been Championship show month!
We went to the CHAPS (Coloured Horse and Pony Society) Championships at Arena UK. Simon rode Bronwyn Ward’s lovely maxi cob Makers Jar of Hearts to win a huge coloured HOYS qualifier. Emotions were high as Bronwyn and her mum were over the moon.
Also new partnership, Hanna Sillitoe and Churchtown Minstrel, have had a great few days, not only being placed in the HOYS qualifier, but also gaining third place the following day.
Next it was the BSHA (British Show Horse Association) Championship Show at Addington. We had a great show with our first season cob, Copenhagen, finishing second in the Novice Lightweight Cob class. We had a lovely time showing him off in the evening performance which was great for his education.
Rachel Cooper and Carnsdale Graffiti were third in the Amateur Cobs and also placed in the classical ladies side saddle. Albert is such a versatile cob and looked beautiful in the side saddle.

Simon also rode Colourprint in the maxi cobs and qualified for HOYS, much to the delight of his owner Harriet Richardson, who also owns Copenhagen.

After a hectic few days at Addington, the next day we competed at Bakewell Show where Natalie and Holbein, owned by Debbie Harrod, won the HOYS qualifier and went overall cob champion.

Then it was all systems go for the run up to HOYS. We went to a pre HOYS Show at Laughton Manor with three horses and they all won. Albert won the cobs, our new girl Diva won the hunters and was reserve champion in the evening performance and three-year-old large riding horse, George, won two inhand classes and was champion in the evening led by his owner Rowena Stevenson. What a fantastic day!
Ginger’s HOYS prep has been slightly different. He’s been out autumn hunting with the Belvoir, where he got ‘papped’ and had a lovely picture in the Horse & Hound.
Ginger has also been jumping and has really enjoyed some fun time outside of the show ring.

Next stop will be HOYS for Team Reynolds. We have a very young team this year, so we are hoping they can all hold it together and remember what they have learned this season!

Catch up next month to see how we get on!
