August has been a little quieter for Team Sommerville, a few less runs but prepping for the later half of the season!
The babies took a quiet trip to Hendersyde Park, all learning some valuable lessons and a few things to work on at home from their outing.
New boy on the block, Shadow Soldier, also arrived at our yard. He is a gorgeous bay six-year-old Thoroughbred, coming from Cheshire based rider Ben Hobday. He is settling in very well, fitting in with routines easily and becoming one of the gang!
Prince, Rocky and Chief took a trip to Aston le Walls. We stayed over at the wonderful Dassett yard again and all horses were feeling very spoilt living the life of luxury!
Rocky (Master Ramiro) ran in the BE100 scoring a 30.8 in the dressage with a few spooky moments however he worked through it. He went onto posting a brilliant double clear, showing tha he had learnt from his mistakes at Hendersyde.
Prince (Prince Rockrimmon), now nicknamed Mr. Consistent, posted another double clear in the BE100 with a 31 test and finished fourth.
Chief (Shadow Inspector) ran in his second Novice… and did it in style! He posted a 25.8 dressage with a double clear to take the top spot on the leaderboard! A very exciting and promising future for this top class six-year-old!
A mid-week run was in the diary for new boy Shadow Soldier, Master Ramiro and yard favorite… well Lucie’s favorite, Erox. All of them had a very early get up to travel to Shelford Manor.
Shadow Soldier ran in the Novice, showing a lot of promise with a confident run. Erox ran in the BE100, posting a 29.5 dressage with a double clear to finish second… and as a result received a lot of treats from Lucie!
The star of the show however was our very own Rocky. He posted another good dressage test of 24.5, had an unfortunate rail in the showjumping, but it was still enough with a clear cross country to take another win at BE100 level.
Our next few runs will be at Richmond Horse Trials, Allerton Park and Blenheim Palace where Talent will run in his final CCI3*, we are hoping for that final qualification result to aim towards Badminton 2017.
All of our horses are feeling and looking fantastic on the amazing combination of Fibre-Beet and Gain Horse Feeds, complementing alongside each other so well to bring out the best in all of our horses.
Back on the yard… we are doing some summer jobs; touching up on some paint work, spring cleaning the kit and doing all the extra jobs whilst we have plenty of daylight. Lucie and I are also excited to be moving into the cottage on the yard which is finally finished. It will be so much easier being based on-site as Lucie hates being away from her little angels!
